Test Cricket Matches:

Cricket is a bat and ball game played between two teams of 11 players. The aim is to score more runs than opposing team. Among the major competitions are the Test matches which are normally played over five days. They are called Test cricket matches because they were started as a test of the relative skills of the two sides. Test cricket matches are played between teams representing their countries. There are currently ten countries that play Test cricket.

The Ashes Game:

 

Cricket most famous trophy is the Ashes Game. England and Australia were the first two Test teams. When England lost to Australia at home in 1882, the sporting jokes that England cricket was dead and that its body would be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia. When the England team next visited Australia, it was presented with a tiny urn, containing the burnt balls from the wicket used in the third test. Since then, whichever team wins an England-Australia Test series is said to have won the Ashes. The trophy is kept permanently at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

The breaststroke was the first stroke used in competition and recreational swimming. It is also the stroke that most people learn when they first take up swimming. The first reference to the breaststroke was in French book in 1696. The side stroke with a scissor leg action, developed from breaststroke.
